The Gregori Principal search has ended and we are excited to welcome back Mr. Phillip Jaramillo! Read his introductory letter below and learn more about our new leader. Go Jags!

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction as your new Principal of Joseph
A. Gregori High School for the 2022-2023 school year. My name is Phillip J. Jaramillo and I
arrived in Modesto in 1999 with my wonderful wife Stacy. I was recruited at the end of my final
semester at New Mexico State University to teach Math at Johansen High School. I had never
been to Modesto, but my wife and I told each other we would give it 2 years and we took the
leap. Needless to say, we fell in love with Modesto and after twenty-three years, Modesto is still
our home. Since coming to Modesto, we have raised two wonderful children, ages 18 and 21,
who are both products of Modesto City Schools.

During my first thirteen years in education I filled many roles as a classroom teacher. I have
been an athletic team coach, math department chairperson, class/club advisor, and I have taught
at all levels of math from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus AB/BC. I truly valued my time in the
classroom and have never lost the perspective of what it means to be a teacher. I am proud of
my teacher badge, and how the added experience will allow me to make informed decisions by
providing me with the ability to effectively and credibly mentor other educators inside and
outside of the classroom.

Over the past ten years I have had the pleasure of serving Modesto City Schools at multiple
school sites, where I have grown in my knowledge and expertise as a high school administrator.
Four of my most cherished years in administration were at Gregori High School, where I was the
Assistant Principal of Pupil Personnel Services from school years ending 2014 to 2018. In 2018
I was given the opportunity to further my administrative knowledge as the Associate Principal of
Curriculum & Instruction at Grace M. Davis High School. It was a difficult decision, but the
experience I obtained has helped to make me the administrator I am today. I have always
considered Gregori High School my home, and I am so very humbled and filled with excitement
knowing that I am being welcomed back as Principal.

Since its opening in 2010, Gregori High School has been a shining example of excellence in
education, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff who
embrace a shared vision of student success. I am looking forward to working closely with the
entire Gregori community to continue on this journey.

Though my official first day as Principal is not until July 1, 2022, I will be collaborating closely
with MCS and the site to find opportunities to meet students, parents, and staff as we move
closer to the first day of school. I am so very grateful for the confidence and trust you have
given me with this opportunity to serve as your Principal.
