Short Term Home and Hospital is designed for the student who will be out of class from 5 to 20 days due to illness and are motivated to keep up with their classes while they are absent.  A doctor’s note must accompany the referral stating how long the student will need to be on Home and Hospital instruction.  Work is assigned and corrected by the classroom teacher, however, a designated Home and Hospital teacher is assigned as a liaison to assist the student in completing assignments.  Students will receive up to five hours of instruction time per week.

Independent Study is available to those students unable to attend school from 5 to 20 days due to extenuating family circumstances. It is imperative that you provide at least 4 days prior written notice to allow for processing.  Independent Study contracts are obtained and returned to the Attendance office. 

*Please note: STIS will not be approved for family trips extending winter break, due to concerns about finals.

Long-term independent study is used on rare occasions. Families must schedule an appointment to talk to the Assistant Principal of Pupil Services.
