GENERAL
INFORMATION
All California students in grades 2
through 11 must take state designated tests through the state's
Standardized Testing and Reporting program (STAR). The STAR consists of
the California Standards Test (CST) and the California Achievement Test,
Sixth Edition (CAT-6). In addition, all students must pass the
California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), which is a state graduation
requirement starting with the Class of 2006. Results from the STAR
tests and the CAHSEE are used to determine a school’s score on the
state’s Academic Performance Index (API) and to determine if schools and
districts meet the requirements of the federal Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) report required by the No Child Left Behind Act. Below you
will find results for the STAR, the CAHSEE, and the API and AYP, which
are now reported in the state’s Accountability Progress Report.
